TAVATUY AREA is an unique place – big fantastic lake and the marvelous shores. The TAVATUY nature is mixed – the usual Middle Urals forest (fir, pine, birch) and at the same time the untraditional for these latitudes Siberian trees and bushes.
TAVATUY is 10 thousands years, it is a natural monument of ice-age. The lake configuration, the great stone boulders in the forest and on the coasts confirm its ancient age. Many centuries ago the North peoples had lived there (Khanty, Mansi). Then Tatars have come from Siberia. In 17th century the old-faith people settled the lake shores. TAVATUY is historical place with an unique culture.
TAVATUY AREA SITE was created to undertake a complex of measures on protection of TAVATUY originality and uniqueness.
Our plans are the following:
1. To attract attention of local and federal governments, and also global society to the heavy ecological situation on TAVATUY.
2. To create the TAVATUY cultural heritage catalogue: folklore and local community life-stile, history of old-faith people on this land; the historical and cultural figures who had been born and lived on TAVATUY coasts; the researchers and scientists describing TAVATUY; a war campaign of “white army” through TAVATUY.
3. To create the system of measures to protect the cultural and historical heritage, which else save in the villages. We are going:
- to install signs on memorable places (old-faith people cemetery, fire tower, Tavatuy poet Levian Chumichev house-museum etc.);
- to organize the tourist and educational excursions;

to appeal to UNESCO to
include TAVATUY
in the catalogue of the world value monuments.
Indeed
for all these plans it is necessary the huge human, financial
and moral resources, the politicians' and public figures' support,
consciousness and some share of altruism.
We really hope that our purposes and ideals will be realized by many people!
